New! Amp the Airy Void by Kelsey Wilder

Amp the Airy Void - Kelsey Wilder Book on CSM Press
This irreverent book is as coltish, captivating and thought-provoking as any poetic worldview that’s come along in quite a while. Caustic, engaging, yet tongue in cheek, Mr. Wilder takes playful, wide-angle looks at love, work, art and culture, science, history, nature, and human relationships both real and fantastical. Odes to the truth of nature, and to the nature of truth, coexist with piquant portraits of outcasts and eccentrics. Violin playing penguins ride the bus, tin cans expound philosophy, and cleverly disguised space aliens evaluate Earth for colonization. Poignant, funny, surreal and surprising, Amp the Airy Void inspires multiple readings.

About the Author

Although this writer is today not widely known, he has a compelling story and unique background.

In the 90s Wilder helped promote mixed media and punk art happenings in New York City that started getting too popular. These were squelched by the local authorities and Mr. Wilder was ordered to pay five-figure fines for the offense of having created flyers for these events.

Encouraged and helped by Allen Ginsberg and Jello Biafra, Wilder’s legal battles became a cause célèbre that after 5 years in the courts produced a highly impactful, precedent-setting victory for free speech.

Citing Wilder’s significant free speech / first amendment victory, in 2007, “Hope” poster artist Shepard Fairey was able to bargain with Boston authorities and avoid a draconian (90+ year!) prison term he was facing there for street postering.

In 2009, just before his passing, the notable historian & Harvard scholar Howard Zinn saw an early Wilder manuscript (parts of which are included in Amp the Airy Void), and volunteered enthusiastic praise for the work.

Mr. Wilder’s writings are unique. Street-smart, entertaining, surprising, and a bit wistful.
His experiences as a touring musician, guitarist and singer are also evidenced in these writings.

The official publication date for Amp the Airy Void is December 2016. CSM Press is pleased to announce that for a limited time only, we can make available pre-publication copies of this first edition to qualified reviewers. To arrange a book-signing event or an interview, e-mail CSM Press here.
